Meteo

National Meteorological Service of Slovenia

Skills

UI,UX

The main challenge was how to show all this data that they had access to. We couldn't just do a "fancy" weather app with the image in the background and show just low and high temperatures. We had to show, maps, cameras, radar data, wind,...

We tried to organize data into two levels. The first level that shows all the essential data that everybody understands and find useful. We also tried to make the language understandable to the normal users.

Because one of the challenges was also to make the government weather station which has the most accurate data more appealing to the common users.

The second level which is also easily accessible by extending the graph for more data or specific weather reports for sailors, pilots, mountaineers, farmers... adding them in the sidebar and as connected cards on the bottom of the forecast as fast overviews for the specific users.

We couldn't just do a "fancy" weather app!

Mobile layout

Meteo also struggled with wider recognition in the country despite being the official national meteorological service of Slovenia.

We helped them by using the same design language in their third-party applications as widgets that you can host on your website to follow the same look and feel of the brand and organization that has the most accurate weather data in the country.

Build awareness by using consistent design language.

The widget was fully responsive and adaptable to any webpage.

Like with all government products the progress is slow and "painful" but at some moment you have to move on! It was a great experience working with Meto who were open to our ideas and suggestions and we really worked together to present their new redesign. Hopefully soon :)

Time to move on!
